Transformation of Copenhagen’s Lakesgade Quarter to include a Four Seasons Hotel

Marking the arrival of Four Seasons in Scandinavia, the hotel will be set in the ‘Laksegade Quarter’, located at one of Copenhagen’s most historic and architecturally significant addresses fronting directly onto Kongens Nytorv.

This landmark mixed-use urban regeneration project is being developed by Thylander A/S in partnership with KanAm Grund Group, on behalf of an investment fund held by a German pension scheme. The proposed 100+ key hotel will consist of a collection of historic buildings which are to be thoughtfully restored, with protected interiors and original architectural details carefully preserved in recognition of their cultural and historical significance.

The hotel will form part of a broader transformation of the ‘Laksegade Quarter’. A visionary 50,000 square meter large mixed-use project set to reopen a historic, long-closed district in central Copenhagen – situated in a prime position between landmarks such as Kongens Nytorv, Nyhavn, the Royal Danish Theatre, the National Bank and the Danish Parliament.

"For more than 400 years, the area around Laksegade has been shaped by the people who inhabited it. First the sailors, then the merchants, and for the last 150 years the financiers. Now a fourth chapter starts with the development of a vibrant new city part for Copenhagen. We are immensely excited to welcome Four Seasons as a key part of this transformation. It is our privilege to honor the heritage of this remarkable area, while shaping a new chapter that feels both relevant and enduring for Copenhageners and visitors alike.” says Bjarke Mikkelsen, CEO & Managing Partner at Thylander.

Copenhagen has long established itself as one of Europe's most compelling capitals. A city defined by world-class gastronomy, design and architecture, as well as its vibrant city life. The Four Seasons Hotel in Copenhagen is envisioned as more than a destination for international travelers; it will become an integrated part of the city, anchoring a revitalized urban quarter of Scandinavian and European renown.

The first phase of the ‘Laksegade Quarter’, featuring approximately 23,000-square-meters of best-in-class offices, commenced construction in March 2026 and is scheduled for completion in late 2027. The second phase is envisaged to include the ca. 100+ key Four Seasons Hotel alongside prime retail offering.

Additional details about the upcoming Four Seasons will be shared in due course. Stay in touch with the latest news of the hotel and wider site progress by following the LinkedIn-profile, ‘Laksegade Kvarteret’ or visit the project website: Laksegade.com
