DISTINCTIVE PROPERTY BECOMES EVEN MORE CLIMATE-FRIENDLY AND SUSTAINABLE

Thylander has improved the energy label and soundproofed windows and doors on one of Kolding’s most distinctive properties – for the benefit of both the residents and the climate.

Solgården, which is located on Sdr. Havnegade 2-12 in Kolding, is one of the city’s most distinctive properties. The former cooperative housing association was built in 1940 and almost 60 years later, the building was among the first in Denmark to have solar panels installed on the roof. Exactly 922 sqm of solar panels, which today supply energy for 60% of the buildings’ total consumption.

Thylander has recently renovated the property and improved the energy label significantly from class D to B, by, among other things, replacing and soundproofing windows and doors.

“Solgården is a very popular property with two balconies in most apartments and an attractive, central location in Kolding, Jutland. In addition to reduced maintenance costs and (even) lower energy consumption, sound insulation gives the residents a better well-being and thus we also support the social sustainability, which sometimes becomes a slightly overlooked topic when it comes to climate, green transition and sustainability,” says René Vexborg, Property Manager at Thylander.

In 2019, Thylander bought the 5,651 sqm property on behalf of the Property Fund Danske Boligejendomme, which manages a total portfolio of more than one billion Danish Kroner (approx. 135 million €), consisting of well-located properties in growth cities outside the Capital area and Aarhus.
